Dr. Jeffrey Tapley received his undergraduate degree in biological sciences from the University of Alabama. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), graduating with honors and as a member of the National Honor Medical Society (Alpha Omega Alpha).
After medical school, Dr. Tapley completed a residency in ophthalmology at UAB, where he was appointed chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at the prestigious Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon. Prior to joining Ullman Eye Consultants, Dr. Tapley was an assistant professor at UAB, teaching residents cataract surgery and corneal transplant surgery. Dr. Tapley has co-authored several peer-reviewed articles and teaches ophthalmologists around the world corneal transplant techniques at the annual American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting.
