Toric, Multifocal, and Light Adjustable Lenses

Premium Lenses

Many patients expect cataract surgery to restore perfect vision without the need for glasses. While cataract surgery with an intraocular lens (IOL) significantly improves vision, traditional monofocal IOL’s only provide clear focus at a single distance, requiring glasses for a complete range of vision.

The natural lens in young eyes functions like a camera's autofocus, seamlessly adjusting focus from near to far. As we age, this ability diminishes, often necessitating bifocals or reading glasses.

Monofocal IOL’s are designed to focus at one distance. Pre-surgery measurements are performed to choose the optimal implant power to obtain this focus.  Even with precise computerized measurements there can be no guarantee of perfect distance vision without glasses.

Traditional monofocal IOL’s do not correct astigmatism. For patients with astigmatism, premium toric IOL’s can improve vision and reduce reliance on strong prescription glasses.

Premium Multifocal and Extended Depth of Focus IOL’s offer additional benefits over a standard Monofocal IOL. Multifocal IOL’s provide both distance and near vision by creating multiple focal points.  The Extended Depth of Focus IOL’s gives a continuous clear vision for a range of vision by elongating the eye’s range of focus.  The Light Adjustable IOL is the only implant that allows the surgeon to adjust the implant power in the office after your surgery to improve your vision.

Premium IOL’s are not suitable for everyone. They come with higher costs and are not covered by insurance as they are not deemed medically necessary. Potential drawbacks include halos and glare at night, which can vary depending on pupil size and the specific type of implant.

Our aim is to provide a comprehensive range of implant options using advanced microincision cataract surgery techniques, customized to your visual needs. After a thorough eye examination, we will recommend the most suitable implant options for your individual situation.
